Furthermore, an unnaturally retained testicle might result in bowel strangulation.
Umbilical Hernia
Umbilical hernia is a very typical dog health issue in some dogs. The Pekingese, for example, has serious issues with this condition. The disease is very hard to breed out as it is a recessive characteristic and involves multiple genes. Hence, it will not be eradicated with a few test breedings.
Disfigurement is the main objection with this dog health problem. Bowel strangulation resulting in death is rare. Since this disease is scientifically innocent, maybe it will have to be allowed in those breeds showing a high likelihood.
