Iscar Releases A Revolutionary Family Of Slitting Cutters Using Tang-Grip Technology And The Sturdiness Of Sumo Tec Grades

Iscar now offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that join the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the increased sturdiness of the new Sumo Tec insert grades.

The idea, already established successful in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been spread to slitting cutters. In the patented Tang-Grip clamping system, inserts are press-fit into their pockets accompanying a special hand tool, and are gripped solidly in place without having the need for clamps, upper jaws or set screws that can weaken the insert and block chip flow. The pocket configuration uses cutting forces to retain the insert seated solidly in position, eliminating any chance of insert pull-out. The Tang-Grip clamping system also fosters additional accurate slitting cuts plus increased pocket and insert life.

Iscar's Sumo Tec insert grades feature a unique post-coating treatment which considerably increases tool life and constancy.

Introduced in late '07, the unique Sumo Tec treatment flattens the insert's coated surface to eliminate microscopic stress raisers, reduce heat and friction and increase chip flow. The result is improved toughness and opposition to chipping and built-up edge, all leading to enhanced tool life. The golden-colored flank on Sumo Tec inserts eases wear detection. Size for size, Tangslit cutters give more teeth than Iscar's SGSF cutters, enabling higher feed rates.

Their higher rigidity leads to straighter, additional accurate cuts and lowered vibration even in large-diameter cutters. The revolutionary Tangslit TGSF cutters come in 100 to 160 mm diameters, 3 and 4 mm widths and can accept the exact same selection of inserts as Tang-Grip parting tools. Several other sizes will be added.

Obtainable Sumo Tec grades for Tangslit cutters include:
IC808, with a tough submicron substrate below a Sumo Tec TiAlN PVD coating, offering remarkable resistance to impact loads and built-up edge. This grade is endorsed for slitting heat resistant alloys, austenitic stainless steel, hard alloys and carbon steel.

IC830, presenting greater toughness for heavier parting and grooving involving interrupted cuts. It is appropriate for any stainless steel and high temperature alloys.

IC908, a hard, fine-grain substrate with remarkable chipping resistance, joined with a brand new Sumo Tec TiAlN PVD coating. It is perfect for nodular or grey cast iron.

IC928 and 928A, PVD TiAlN-coated tough grades suitable for stainless steel, high temperature alloys and other alloy steels. These grades are additionally favored for interrupted cuts and heavy operations.

Each Tangslit and Tang-Grip inserts are available in J- or C-type chipformer geometries from Iscar.

A Few Of The Several Advancements In Carbide Inserts Coming From Iscar
Iscar is introducing a new unique milling system with tangential, clamped, butterfly-shaped LNKX carbide inserts. The butterfly-shaped insert has significant advantages compared to the current flat, square shapes. The new geometry has more cutting edges, positive rake face, reduced cutting forces resulting in higher performance.

Iscar Adds Their Most Recent Creations To A Extended Line Of Outstanding Hole Generating Solutions
Iscar recently released several different drilling innovations to meet their customers needs. These new products are Sumocham Drill, DR-DH and Deep Drills. Drawing off of their experience Iscar has come up with new and innovative ways to increase productivity for the end user.

Many Improvements Have Broadened Iscar's Line Of Indexable Endmills For Expanded Productivity
Helido-Upfeed 04 Two years ago Iscar introduced the extremely efficient H600 indexable endmill line, based on conceptually new Helido-Upfeed double sided inserts with 6 cutting edges. The first insert launched was the H600 WXCU 0806..., which was designed for milling cutters in the diameter range of 50 to 125 mm.

The Newest In Carbide Endmill Architectures In A Extended And Effective Family From Iscar
Manufacturers and die & mold shops can eliminate chatter problems in many milling operations with Iscar's new Chatterfree endmills. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern eliminates harmonic vibration, the main source of chatter. This enables faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling.
